SIERRA ELISA AGASI
Hello dear you,
How incredibly sweet of you to think about giving Sierra a gift. First of all, please know that we don't expect a baby gift, and we certainly don't consider it necessary. If you'd really like to give something to Sierra, on this page you'll find a few contributions that would make both her and us very happy!
We've also made the conscious choice to share a 'preferably not' list, because we've chosen a minimalist approach to baby items and a natural upbringing. For us, the outdoors is the playground, the school, and the gym. It might feel a bit impolite, but we'd like to share what we'd rather not receive. Not because we aren't grateful, but because it would feel like such a shame if we didn't end up using your beautiful gift. We hope you'll understand.
Do you want to come for a visit and want to bring something physical? Then perhaps the loveliest gift would be a bit of your help — like groceries or a meal, as is the Norwegian tradition.
Love and heartfelt thanks!
Zoë, Olivier and Sierra
The preferably not list
- Toys: We'd prefer not too many toys. In general, our wish is for wooden toys only, no sounds/electronics. So we'd rather not receive toys.
- Stuffed animals: We'd like to keep it to two stuffed animals, which we'd like to pick out ourselves. So we'd rather not receive stuffed animals.
- Clothing: We've already received so much clothing that it's impossible to use it all. The only thing we could still use more of is 100% wool clothing. That's listed on the gift registry.
Sierra's first big adventure
Sierra means 'mountain range' in Spanish. A name that stands for strength and steadfastness, for freedom and adventure, for mystery and calm.
In her first four days at home, Sierra has already been camping. The first two nights inside, since we couldn't take any risks with the jaundice. The two nights after that, outside in the tent. A little practice run for the first big adventure in November.
In November, we're heading out on our first big adventure with Sierra. We're taking the train to Italy to hike part of the Sentiero Italia. With the backpack, the tent, and of course Sierra strapped to our front. Which region exactly, we'll decide based on the weather. This time, distances don't matter at all. It's about the first adventure together, and this time, Sierra will set a big part of the pace.

There are also gifts you can easily find yourselves, or make yourselves. The easiest way is to send it to one of our parents, or to Zoë's sister. They can then bring it here with them, or we'll take it along ourselves the next time we visit our parents. Sending things directly to Norway usually isn't very practical — we often end up paying import fees, which can sometimes cost more than the gift itself. We buy almost everything secondhand ourselves, so don't feel embarrassed to look for something secondhand!
- Handmade: We love handmade gifts that are practical. We really appreciate it when you give your time and put your heart into making something for Sierra. We've already received knitted socks, a little blanket, a hat, more socks, and Imke and Heleen even made this beautiful garland with Sierra's name on it!
- Song book: A songbook with traditional and modern Dutch and Flemish children's songs. This matters to us as a way to give her a sense of cultural connection and development.
- Dutch-language books: Dutch books about adventure, respectful behavior, personal development for children, or classic books that every Dutch child should have read.
